Christmas in February

Digital Stamps 4 Joy is having a monthly progressive Christmas Challenge this year.  They offer one of their FREE Digital Christmas images each month, and as long as you use that current months image to create & post a card to their challenge, you could win a prize!  And you will automatically be sent the next month's free Christmas image to create another challenge card!!  Of course I just finished creating my card for this challenge & hopefully I have not missed the deadline for entering!!. I colored the image with Promarkers and then punched it out with a Marvy Circle punch, then a Marvy Scalloped punch.  The white border is a Martha Stewart Ribbon punch. The red ribbon is from my stash!  I will be adding a sentiment and mailing this card to the Send A Smile 4 Kids organization for their use.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Fly Away

I made another set of cards for Operation Write Home this week using this adorable Penny Black stamp called Fly Away.  I thought it was so super cute, and I thought it would make a cute "Missing You" card.  I colored it with my Promarkers, I don't have the name of the stamp set I used for the sentiment, but I punched the circle out using a 1.5 Paper Studio punch.  The scalloped red die cut behind it is from Spellbinder's Beaded Circles set.  I think it turned out pretty cute, hope the soldiers like it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

A Very Special Card

My grandson Kenny is being baptized this coming Sunday...it is a truly joyous occasion!!  He came into our family as a foster child at around 5 months old, and his adoption was not finalized until this past year when he was almost 3 years old!  He is such a spunky, smart, mischievous little boy, and we just love him to death!!  From early on I told my daughter whenever I looked at him....he is the actor/comedian Woody Harrelson's double because of his dimples & infectious smile!! Not the best resemblance picture here, but can you see it???  Anyway....I made this card for his baptism and although the pictures of it are horrible, I thought it came out really pretty!!  Not entering in it any challenges, but if you happen to stop by, hope you enjoy it!!

I (Heart) You

Yesterday I made 10 of the cards below for Operation Write Home.  One of my New Years resolutions was to make more cards for organizations like this one!  Just like most of you, I have an overabundance of supplies to use.  I created scrapbooks for my three children (whom are now grown & out of the house), and now make cards for them & my grandchildren for all occasions.  Although I still work full-time (yuck!), I have plenty of free time & supplies to make cards (plus it makes me feel less guilty that I spent money on all this STUFF!)  So why not put it to some good use!!  I posted a similar card that I made for my husband a couple weeks back, but could not add all the layers on this one for OWH shipping reasons.  You can have a little thickness, thus I popped the sentiment up with foam dots.  I hope that and the bow will not make it too bulky!  Anyhow..OWH typically has more requests for "Love You" and "Missing You" cards.  So I created this batch, and will make a set of "Missing You" cards next. I embossed the white panel with a Sizzix folder. The heart is made with a Spellbinder's die cut, and I used the Pretty Pennants cartridge from Cricut for the sentiment and resized it for my needs! Can't remember right now what set the sentiment stamp came from. Hope they like them!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Operation Write Home Sketch Challenge

The third masculine card we had to make for the OWH Bowl Card 2014 involved following a specific sketch.  I wanted to make another Any Hero card for this challenge, so I used our flag colors, with an additional gold colored title to stand out on the red!  I used a Cuttlebug folder for the front white panel.  I don't have the name of the folder, but it kind of reminded me of strips on a flag.  The red, blue & gold are papers from my stash...I don't know if you can see in the picture, but the blue strip has little stars on it!  The USA sentiment & the stars were both cut with the Stand & Salute Cricut cartridge.  I wanted to give the card a little dimension, so I painstakingly cut itty bitty pieces of 3M foam tape and put them behind the sentiment & stars!  I really liked the way it turned out....hope the Hero that receives it agrees!

OBDB February Challenge - Use Browns

Our Daily Bread Designs February Challenge calls for a card using browns.  This is the second card I will be entering for the Operation Write Home Card Bowl 2014, which required making a masculine card.  I think these are two of the hardest guidelines I ever had to meet!!  I typically don't make mostly brown cards, and masculine cards are always a challenge!  Anyway....here is my take on that.  The plaid background was made using a background stamp (sorry I don't have the maker's name) with Versamark & dark brown embossing powder.  The green stamped image is from the Stampin Up set "Just Believe" using a Color Box Cat's Eye pad.    The sentiment is from the Stampin Up Oval All set cut out with their coordinating dies.  I will be sending this card to OWH as an AnyHero card.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Card Bowl 2014 - Thank You Card

Operation Write Home is having a challenge this weekend called Card Bowl 2014, where you make three different masculine cards.  First one is to make a masculine card using the team colors of either the Seahawks or the Broncos.  So this is my card using the Bronco's team colors.  I decided to make it a thank you card that I can send to OWH for an any hero card.  I will be writing a small note of thanks inside. Hope they will like it!!  I will be back sometime in the next 24 hours with a posting for the 2nd & 3rd card.
