A Very Special Day

Today my newest grandson Parker was baptized!!  It was so cute because during the ceremony when our priest was saying a prayer while anointing or blessing him, Parker looked right at him & listened to every word!  Anyway....this is the card I made for him.  I wanted it to be elegant looking to mark such a special occasion in his life!  Of course he doesn't have a clue what it means now, but I thought my daughter, his mother, would appreciate it!!  Of course I almost never get a good clean picture with the correct lighting...the card stock is actually a bright white!  The verse I embossed in gold is from the Baptism & Confirmation Verses set by Our Daily Bread Designs.  The oval & gold paper behind it was cut using Spellbinder's A2 Filigree Delight.  The white paper behind it is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder called Decorative Tile.  I then added that whole piece to my white card base with dimensional foam strips.  My daughter liked the verse being embossed in gold!  Well..till next time...thanks for stopping by!

Congratulations Megan!

This is a card I made for my niece Megan's baby shower.  She is expecting her first child on Christmas Day of all days!!  Her & her husband  know that they will be having a baby girl & have already picked Camilla Sue as her name.  I thought this baby in the bassinet image was so sweet...but here comes the bad part...I forgot where I purchased it!!!  I have got to start writing down the image name and origin as soon as I start the card!!!  Anyway...the only coloring I did was on the bassinet cover & drapery with a pink Promarker.  I couldn't deal with just leaving the rest of it plain white so I just "colored" it by brushing the Clear Wink of Stella brush over it to give it a little shimmer.  It looks "goldish" in the picture in some places, but I assure you it was just a whitish shimmer.  I used the Spellbinder's Legacy Die to frame it in white & placed a pink paper behind it that matched my Promarker & to bring out some of the detail on this beautiful die.  I then placed it on my card top which I had embossed with a dotted Darice folder and added some pink pearls!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Birthday Addison!!

We are celebrating my granddaughter Addison's 2nd birthday Saturday August 30th.  She is going through the terrible twos stage, and just had her baby brother Parker appear on the scene (born just 2 weeks back!!)  Needless to say...she is kind of being a pain in the butt, but is learning to adjust to her newly shared spotlight!!  Anyway...I made this card for her 2nd birthday.  This darling image comes from the Pure Innocence set called " Something Special Just for You".  I colored her with my promarkers, then fussy cut her out. I also stamped her crown onto gold sparkly paper & fussy cut it out and popped her up using foam tape.  The pink polka papers are from Bo Bunny, the numbers & balloon designer papers are from DCWV called The Birthday Wishes Stack.   The banners were cut using YNS Fishtail Banner Die Set.  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread Special Girl Designs set, and were punched out using two Stampin Up Ovals punches. I put two pink enamel dots in the left hand corner, and a heart shaped crystal on her crown from my stash.  I'm sure she won't have a clue how cute her card might be, but I sure had fun creating it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Birthday Shawnee

I made this card for my granddaughter Shawnee's 7th birthday.  Unfortunately her parents, my daughter & son-in-law Emily & Jason, would be on vacation during her actual birthing day.  And my other daughter & son-in-law Elaine & Bryan would end up delivering their 2nd baby, my eighth grandchild, the weekend after when we were going to celebrate Shawnee's birthday!!  Sounds very chaotic at best...and it was!! I made this card for Shawnee at a moments notice, so I'm not exactly jumping up & down about it, but I still think it turned out cute enough.  The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil called "Lacie".  I don't think it was in the birthday image category, but it was so cute, and reminded me of Shawnee...and what birthday doesn't involve ice cream!  I colored her with my Promarkers, cut her out with a Spellbinders circle die, then behind that, I joined together two Cheery Lynn Chasing Rainbows Doily die in light blue & yellow.  I finished off with a big yellow flower in the lower left & some yellow candy in each of the other corners. Hope you like it..thanks for stopping by!!

Thinking of You

This is another "Thinking of You" card I made for my mother-in-law.  She requested some cards from me because she said she just can't find any pretty ones in the store.  I saw a card on Pinterest that was similar to this, but had a spray of colored stamps on it.  I had just bought a set of Sizzix Triplits flower dies recently and thought they would be perfect to use to make a CAS card like the one on Pinterest.  I cut some of the flowers out using my scraps stash, and set them out on the Fanciful Flourish die from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I manually pierced holes around the entire base of the card.  I really love the sentiment...it is from Hampton Arts & I bought it at Michael's from the $1.00 bin...can't beat a deal like that!!  Anyway...I really like how it turned out and I think I'm going to make several more in A2 size using other colors to send to Operation Write Home.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Thinking of You

My mother-in-law lives in a retirement home and she recently asked me to make some pretty Thinking of You cards to send to people because she couldn't find any decent ones in the "stores".  I have been making her birthday, Christmas & Mother's Day cards the last few years, so I guess she thought I could help out.  Of course I freaked at first ....when someone asks you to make a specific card for them...kind of makes you feel "under the gun" so to speak.  At the same time I thought it would be a fun challenge & of course I would help her...she's priceless...the most loving mother-in-law anyone could dream for!!  Anyway...I will post some cards I made for her over the next couple of weeks. This is one of the first ones I came up with.  I love this Stampendous stamp called "Daisy Thanks"...looked exactly like the Black Eyed Susan's growing in my garden every year & they just spoke to me as a great versatile stamp!  I colored them with my Promarkers and framed them out with Spellbinders A-2 Fancy Ribbon Threader die.  I proceeded to thread some dark brown woven ribbon through the slots in the die & struggled QUITE A WHILE till I managed to tie a bow in the center!!  Then I stamped the Thinking of You sentiment from a Tim Holtz set at the bottom in dark brown ink.  I think she'll love it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!!

Happy 60th!!

My husband turned 60 a week ago and he wasn't a bit happy about it!!  I wanted to make him a card & was trying to decide between a couple of images to use on it.  I ended up using two images...one on the outside & another on the inside.  I guess I was trying to cheer him up & be funny at the same time.  The outside was supposed to be how everybody viewed him, and the inside image was supposed to reflect how strong he actually is & how he thinks he should still look!!  Anyway....the image on the front is "Bob" from Mazy Arts Digital Stamps, and the muscle man on the inside is "Strongman" from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I colored them both with Promarkers.  The small balloon is a Martha Stewart punch.  The other two I created using some Spellbinder Ovals dies and tied them all together with some black waxy twine.  The sentiment on front is from a Stampin Up set that I don't have the name for, and I printed the one on the inside on my computer.  I do believe he got a kick out of his card when he opened it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

Happy Birthday Caroline

My husband's niece is having a first birthday party for her daughter Caroline and this is the card I made for her.  This cute little image is called "Kai is One" from Mo's Digital Pencil.    Caroline is a dark haired darling little toddler just like Kai!  I colored her with promarkers & cut her out with a Spellbinders circle die, then framed her on a beautiful Joy Craft die...sorry, don't have the exact name!  The white panel behind her is embossed with the Cuttlebug Decorative Tile Set folder, and the die cut that the Happy Birthday sentiment is on is Spellbinders Fancy Tags.  All the pink & white pearls are from my stash.  I hope Caroline's Mommy likes it...I think Caroline is a little too young to care!!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Happy Birthday Mikah!!

Sorry...this might be quite a long post...I'll try to shorten it as much as possible and maybe amuse you along the way!  So my grandson Mikah's birthday is Friday July 11th. However my daughter & son-in-law (his mother & father) are taking the family on vacation that weekend, so my daughter informs me that we will celebrate his birthday this coming Saturday the 5th.  Since I'm not the fastest creative person in the world I thought...holy crap...I better get started on his card lickety-split!!  Mikah & his brother Russell are always having sword fights with their plastic swords...it's insane.  So I thought it would be perfect to make him a pirate card for his birthday...simple right?? Except I have no pirate stamps or images...so I headed off to the internet to shop.  The image is called Lil Pirate from Kenny K downloads, the Tropical Beach background is from Make it Crafty, and I purchased a Pirate Sentiment set from Art Fire.  Wow..would have been cheaper for me if I just bought a pirate birthday card from the store...but that wouldn't have been homemade!!  Here's the funny part...I have never colored a background image before...good reason...it's stressful..at least for me.  When I went to color the sand.......you know what...I'm not even going to go into it....the explanation would go on forever!!  Let me just say there were SEVERAL errors along the way finishing this card, and I proceeded to cover most of them up rather than start all over again!  I think it turned out really cute considering the craziness along the way.  Seeing how he will be only 8 years old I don't think he'll notice!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Cheers To You!

I made this card using the Bottom's Up stamp set that I won recently from a House That Stamps Built challenge.  I was pretty excited...who isn't when you win something..but also because it's such a fun set to make cards with!  They are so versatile that you could use them for a lot fun things...parties, summertime, birthdays, congrats, father's day and many more!  I'm not sure who or what I'll use this one for...I've left the inside blank for now.  I followed the sketch for Your Next Stamps monthly challenge.  I also used their Fishtail Die set that I purchased a couple weeks back.  They come with a varying length & width of fishtails so I'm sure I'll use them often.  I colored the glass of beer with my promarkers, then got really daring & used glossy accents over the entire thing.  Then I got even crazier & used some liquid applique over the foam to try & make it look frothy, fussy cut it out, and attached it to the glass with some foam dots. I realize that to most of you out there it's not very daring, but I had never used glossy accents or liquid applique before.  I didn't have any red dots, so I used my promarkers to color over some white ones.  The "Cheers to You sentiment is from Stampin Up.  I think it turned out pretty cute, although my fussy cutting could stand a bit more practice!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

This is Me Missing You

Another clean & simple card here, made for Operation Write Home.  This time instead of making an image the main focus of the card, I used the sentiment as such.  All the papers used are from my stash.  The sentiment was cut out using Spellbinder's Classic Ovals & underneath that Spellbinder's Floral Ovals.  The sentiment stamp is from the Hampton Arts Handwritten Sentiments set.  All the stamps are a little larger than most, and are a combination of plain & cursive fonts, and I really like that combo.  The enamel dot stickers are from Recollections.  They are not as thick as many of the dots you find in your local craft store, come in many colors, and are perfect for OWH cards that cannot have super bulky embellishments.  Anyway...hope you like it...thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Missing You

My daughters & I got together last weekend & they scrapbooked while I made some cards for OWH.  I just finished taking pictures & uploading them.  Most of my cards are CAS and with Operation Write Home, you need to use that style for the most part.  You can't have big bulky flowers or embellishments that will be difficult for the soldiers to mail home to love ones, but that doesn't mean they can't be pretty!!  Anyway....I am sorry to say I cannot tell you what the name of this stamp is or the company that made it, I just thought it would make a cute CAS card as the main image, and just in time for summer.  Seeing all the beautiful flowers that come up in everyone's garden is my favorite part of summer.  I colored it with my Promarkers, trying to match the colors of the striped papers as closely as possible.  The Missing You sentiment and die it's cut out with is called Teeny Tiny Tags that I purchased from My Pink Stamper quite a while ago.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Father's Day!

Both my father & father-in-law have sadly already passed on, but I made this Father's Day card for my husband because he was always an excellent father to our three children!!  This is an awesome Mo Manning image I colored with my Promarkers. The DP paper behind him is from the Prince Charming Pad from Recollections.  My husband recently replaced both of the faucets in the main bathroom of our home, and although he dreaded it....accomplished it without too much ado!! Probably saved us about $1000.00 in the process!!  Happy Father's Day Paul...love you!!

Happy Birthday Brian

My son-in-law Bryan's birthday is tomorrow and I made this card for him.  Beside being in computer technology on the job now, he is very intelligent..knows Russian language..and worked for the US Navy at one point in his life!!  This is a Mo Manning image called "Computer Guy"  that I colored with my Promarkers!  The plaid paper behind him is from the DCWV premium stack "Dots, Stripes,& Plaids mat stack that I purchased recently from JoAnns .  This is exactly how I envision him sitting at his desk at work with all the wires tangled underneath !!  I hope he likes it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Birthday Jason!!

Late night post here!!!  My two daughters Emily & Elaine & I spent this whole weekend working on our scrapbooks & cards at my house.  They actually spent the night here on Friday, sleeping in their old bedrooms.  They are 36 and 35 years old, and left their wonderful children (my seven soon to be eight grandchildren) home alone with their fathers!!  God love those fathers!! Anyway....I made a lot of cards...one of which is the one I'm showing you here today for my son-in-law Jason's birthday!  He took care of his SIX children this weekend alone so that  Emily could spend the whole weekend with me!!  What a man!!  He is a GREAT FATHER!!  This is the birthday card I created for him.  This is "Big Guys Tractor" from Mo's Digital Pencil.  He doesn't actually drive a tractor that I know of, but it reminds me of seeing him driving around his yard on his riding lawn mower cutting the grass in their large yard!!  Hope he likes it!!   I created this card following Mojo Monday's #348 Sketch.   Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Birthday Russ!

My grandson Russell turns 6 tomorrow and we are having his party today.  One of his favorite things is dinosaurs, so I made this card for him.  I used my paper scraps & Cricut Expression to cut it out using the Dinosaur Tracks cartridge.  I haven't made a card without a colored image in a while, but I didn't really have any dinosaur stamps, and I thought this cartridge would be perfect.  I just kind of made up the scene with the mountains & clouds.  It's hard to tell in the picture, but I chalked around the edges of all the cuts except the balloon.  I thought it would be really cute to make the dinosaur wobble, Russell should get a kick out of it!  The only problem is the wobbly thingamajig was a little too large for him.  It's sticking out behind the dinosaur in a couple of places, and even though it looks horrible in the picture here, you really can't tell at all looking at it in person.  I printed the sentiment for the inside of the card from my computer.  I hope he likes it!!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Happy Anniversary

My oldest daughter Emily & her husband Jason celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary yesterday.  I made this anniversary card for them using LOTV's Meant to Be stamp.  I thought it was perfect for them....although they have adopted our six grandchildren in the last seven or so years, and life is always crazy for them because of it, they still hold it all together!!  You think they would just want to cope with their own lives and leave it at that, but both sides of their extended families are large, and they just love to get together with everybody and have a good time!  They must both have the patience of saints...I would never be able to handle all that activity!!!  Thus I used the stamp "Meant to Be"!  I think they'll like the card....I also tucked in some gift certificates to a restaurant they like, and offered to babysit when they go to use them!  My card was inspired by this months YNS May Sketch.  I used my Promarkers to color them, and popped them up on some foam tape.  All the checked papers and sold papers I layered them on are from my stash as well as the two blue pearl dots in the upper corner.  The Happy Anniversary stamp is from Printworks.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Happy 80th!!

My mother-in-law's 80th birthday is coming up next week, and we are having a party today to celebrate.  I bought this Art Impression's stamp called "Giant Cake Stamp" with her in mind.  They have some of the funniest stamps around...especially the group called Girlfriends.  This stamp is from that group.  I am always working at the last minute it seems, and I didn't start this card until about 10:00 p.m. last night!! I colored it up quick with my Promarkers and add the sentiment (comes with the stamp set).  I cut out the number 80 with my Cricut Expression and added the three candy dots in three of the corners.  I think she'll get a big kick out of it!!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Happy Mother's Day

Hope all the mother's out there had a wonderful day today!  We started out with rain & a slight chill in the air, but by the time we left church this morning the sun was shining bright!  This is the card I made for my mother.  Most of the times I try to make her something with her favorite color, lavender, but as I was flipping through my paper stacks, I saw this print with the butterflies & sparkle on it from the DCWV Mariposa Matstack.  I thought it was pretty, and she loves butterflies, so it ended up being mostly brown & blue, which is one of my favorite color combos!  I used two Spellbinder die cuts to frame the sentiment, & hand pierced around the inside of the sentiment layer. The sentiment is a stamp called "With Love" made by Printworks.  I've had it forever and maybe only used it one other time, but I liked the idea of using it instead of the typical Happy Mother's Day!  I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut out the butterflies, added pearls to their bodies, and spritzed them and the flowers with some glitter spray  to match the glitter on the paper. My mother loved it, and asked me..."did you make this one yourself....how in the world did you make all this?" She obviously hasn't seen the obscene amount of product I have in my craft room or she wouldn't ask that question!!  I'm sure all of you cardmakers & scrapbookers out there can relate!!  Anyway, I'm glad she liked it.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

First Holy Communion

My grandson Mikah will be making his First Communion next Sunday so I made this card for him.  I shouldn't even be posting it (the gold embossed scripture is crooked!!!), but I had it all put together before I noticed it, and I really didn't want to start over!  I'm hoping his little eight year old eyes will not notice!  Is that being an awful Grandma or what!!  Anyway...the scripture stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs First Holy Communion set. The white panel with scripture, the gold foil panel, and the white panel behind it were all cut using dies from Spellbinder's Majestic Labels Twenty Five set. I used foam tape & pop dots in between the panels to make it dimensional.  The gold beads were from my stash.  I don't know that he'll be very impressed, most eight year old boys aren't very impressed with greeting cards, but I think my daughter will really like it!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peak!

Happy Father's Day

What?  Father's Day already?  What happened to Mother's Day?  Well,  I have been trying to get a box of cards in the mail to Operation Write Home. (You make blank greeting cards for the deployed to send home to their loved ones with their own special message inside).  Most of the cards I made for them are general greeting cards because I'm just horrible with deadlines, but I decided to hurry up & make a couple Father's Day cards, and the deadline for them to reach the organization is April 30th!!  I have been using sketches more & more lately, because it helps me think of different ways to use my paper, dies & stamps without creating the same look every time, although for the most part, they still remain clean & simple!  Anyway....I made this one using a sketch I found on Pinterest from The Scalloped Edge.  All the papers & buttons are from my stash.  The tie images are from Clearly I Stamp, the sentiment from the Doodle Pantry.  I like the way it turned out!  Now I have to make about ten more just like it and quickly!! Happy Anniversary!

My daughter Elaine & son-in-law Bryan's 2nd Wedding Anniversary is on Monday.  I made this card for them & fashioned it after a Mojo Monday sketch.  The striped & polka dot paper behind the image is from a new Recollections stack I just purchased called Little Princess Paper Pad.  It is a collection of various stripes, plaids & polka dot paper that all match in color.  I have all kinds of printed paper stacks, but have a hard time finding solids that match.  I've pretty much been buying stacks that are double sided with coordinating colors now...takes away all the frustration & time consuming search for matching papers!  In fact, the solid paper I used on this card was the only sheet I had that came close to matching the print.  It's somewhere between gray, brown & a hint of green...whatever that is!!  This cute little stamp I colored using Promarkers is called Avery Getting Flowers by Paper Nest Dolls...first time I've used one of their stamps. The bow & buttons are from my stash (The large button matches the solid card stock much more than itg shows in the picture!) the sentiment is from Printworks?  Anyway...I hope they both like the card..I thought it turned out kind of cute!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Sympathy Card

Just wanted to say that I created a sympathy card for the first time ever.  This card was for a co-worker that I thought would appreciate the gesture. They are the hardest card ever to make and I just wanted to make it soft & soothing and not cheapish!  Does that make any sense???  So I went to a go-to gal that makes the most beautiful cards ever no matter what the occasion...Becca Feeken of Amazing Paper Grace!!  I cannot say enough about her beautiful, thoughtful cards! Her blogsite title says it all!   I tried to copy  her Elegant Sympathy card she posted on November 16, 2013.  I think my co-worker will appreciate it.  Thanks so much Becca for the inspiration!!  Not entering it into any challenge...that would be way too tacky.  Just thought I would put it out there for anyone who stops by to see.
