Christmas Horse

I have yet another card made to donate to SendASmile4Kids.  For this one I used the "Christmas Horse" image from Bugaboo Stamps. I actually made three cards to donate using this image, one colored with the traditional Christmas colors, one with blues & browns for a little boy, and this one using girly colors.  The paper is from a Paper Studio stack, and I used a Spellbinder die to frame him, My Creative Teeny Tiny Tags for the sentiment cut. The sentiment itself comes from Taylored Expressions & the purple bow is from my stash.  The scrolls on either corner are from Recollections stamped in white.  What little girl wouldn't love it?  Thanks again for stopping by!

Timmy's Stocking

Here is another card I created to donate to the SendASmile4Kids.  This adorable image called "Timmy's Stocking" is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  Mo has so many cute images!  I colored him with my Promarkers and framed him first with a Spellbinders circle die, then onto the beautiful white die from Joy Crafts (one of my favorites).  I added some blue jewels around the die from my stash.  The Merry & Bright sentiment is from Taylored Expressions & was cut out using My Creative Time's Teeny Tiny Tags die.  The green ribbons are from my stash.  Hopefully it will bring a smile to some sweet little boy in the hospital!

Winter Bench

This is one of the Christmas cards I made for SendASmile4Kids.  I used this cutie image from Bugaboo Stamps called "Winter Bench".  I colored it with Promarkers, then used  my Quickie glue pen & Martha Stewart glitter to add the sparkles to the snow, snowflakes, sky & even the 3 flowers.  The two patterned papers came from the DCWV Winter Basics Stack. I used a Spellbinder die to frame the image, and My Creative Time's Teeny Tiny Tags for the sentiment from Taylored Expressions.  The twine & flowers are from my stash.  I think it turned out pretty cute!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!

Scrapbooking Weekend

Last weekend my daughters Emily, Elaine & I went on a scrapbooking weekend.  We've done this in the past a few times, and it's kind of pricey, but the idea is to get as much work done on your scrapbooks as possible without any distractions such as meals, laundry, etc.  They provide a workroom with tables, and rooms to sleep in & meals to eat for a fee.  Most of us stay up all hours trying to get the most out of the weekend we've paid for, and we usually end up sleep-deprived, which makes for some pretty fun & slap happy times.  We end up laughing so hard we're crying at some point usually over something silly!  Below is a picture of my two daughters at our work area.  Anyway....my daughters worked on their scrapbooks, while I worked on making Christmas cards for an organization called SendASmile4Kids.  You can make & donate your cards to them, and they distribute them to the hospitals for families that have a child in the hospital to use as their own.  I will be posting the cards I've made over the next several days.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Birthday Princess Card

I had this really cute stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs that I wanted to use.  My granddaughters' birthdays have all passed when I purchased it a couple of weeks ago, but I decided to make a card with it anyway.  I will probably donate the card to one of the many charitable causes that collect hand made cards for their patrons to send to loved ones!!  Anyway..I wanted to do something different, which is my new personal challenge..so I decided to make a window card.  I used Spellbinder dies to make this card, as well as papers & ribbon from my stash.  The castle image & sentiments inside & out are from the Our Daily Bread Design "Special Girl" stamp set. Hope you like it!

Birthday Blessings

Well I finally got around to trying a new type of card...I'm always wanting to try something new, but somehow never get around to it!  For all of you experienced card makers out there, this will seem a little silly to you!  I was ordering a new background stamp from Just Rite Stamps when I saw their Friday challenge to make an easel card. The only hitch...you had to use one of their stamps.  Well right now I only own one of their stamp sets..."Celebration Labels One & Bracket Borders One".  That's when I decided come hell or high water, I was going to make an easel card using that stamp set!!  So here is what I came up with...it took me about six hours...going back and forth about what papers, colors, etc. to use...but I thought it turned out pretty good!!  All the papers are from my stash as well as the bow.  Going from the back forward, here are the layers.  The large ivory die cut in the back is Spellbinder's Decorative Labels One.  I used the Celebration Labels One stamp with Memento's "Bamboo Leaves" ink on it. The rust colored paper was cut out with Spellbinder's Labels Twenty Two.  Next is a smaller Decorative Labels One die cut in ivory, stamped with the Just Rite Labels One sentiment in Memento's Rich Cocoa.  The "Celebrate" sentiment is from the same set, also stamped with Rich Cocoa.  The leaves were cut with My Creative Time's Piles of Smiles set, and I chalked the edges with brown chalk. Here are pictures of my card showing the front, side, and inside.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Life Is Like Riding A Bicycle

Hello Everyone!!  I recently purchased this rubber stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I didn't know what I was going to do with it, and I usually purchase "Occasion" stamps so that I can use them for multiple purposes, but this image just struck me as so cute..I just wanted to color it up right away!  What sealed the deal in my purchase was the bicycle sentiment...so emphatically true!!  I can't for the life of me remember the Cricut cartridge I used to cut out the green frame!  The black frame is the outermost die from Spellbinder's Gold Rectangles One.  All the papers & ribbon are from my stash.   Anyway....I think I'm going to send it to the "I Feel The Love Project".  You can create cards to send to them with a blank white card stock inside, so that homeless families in the shelter can write their own personal message & send it out to a loved ones!!  How cool is that!!!  So here is my card...hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!!

Just Saying Hi!!

I made this card in response to a "Surprise Challenge" at Fresh Brewed Designs.  If you email them, they will send you a "surprise" free digital image, which you then must use to enter their weekly challenge, using the sketch they provided.   Of course I succumbed because one...it was a free "surprise" image so I was curious and two, I haven't entered a challenge or posted anything in quite a while and I thought maybe it would get me cracking again!!  I have been creating family birthday cards, and am almost finished redoing my wedding album from 37 years ago (that was extremely tough!) but beyond that....nothing!!  ANYWAY...here is the card I created for the challenge.  The Free Surprise Image is the Coffee Shop you see in the center of the card....only it didn't have the title "Coffee Shoppe" on the image, nor did it have the words "cupcakes" and "bagels" on the window signs.  I added them using Microsoft Word.  I colored the image using Promarkers & Spectrum Noir markers. All the background papers are from my stash..as is the "just saying hi" sentiment stamp.  I made the buttons by coloring white card stock with the same blue marker as I used for the color surrounding the shop.  Then I punched them out using Epiphany Crafts button maker and used Primo Jute twine in the buttonholes. ! And this is the creation I ended up with... I had horrible lighting & shadows as I photographed this card so I hope it doesn't hurt the eyes any!  Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday Elaine

I made this card for my daughter Elaine's birthday.  She has been married for just over a year, has a beautiful daughter Addison who will turn 1 year old at the end of this month, and will have been in her new house with her husband Bryan for a little over a year!!!  She did it all at one time, and is overwhelmed by it all about now!!!   The image is from Flat Friends called Crimbo Shopping and was generously given away as a freebie.  I colored her with Promarkers, and she was cut out & framed with three different Spellbinder dies.  The flowers are from Orchard Crafts, and pearls are from my stash.  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

Happy Birthday

WOW!  Haven't posted anything for a long time! Summertime activities suck up a lot of free time, and I've been kind of lost as far as inspiration goes..have been in a real creative funk.  I made this birthday card for my granddaughter Shawnee's birthday.  It's nothing fantastic, but hope it made her smile...I know my present to her did!!  I colored this Sassy Cheryl  image with Promarkers.  I think Sassy Cheryl images are the bomb!! I guess I'm showing my age with that comment, but they are really truly CUTE!  The papers & buttons are from my stash, and the die cut I used to frame her is the Fluer de Lis Rectangles from Spellbinders.  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!!

God Bless America

I haven't made a card in a while and I just wanted to join in all the fun challenges out there for the Fourth of July.   These cute images are a Max & Maddie set called Honoring the Flag from Sassy Cheryl's Stamps.  She has a lot of super cute images on her website!  I colored them with Promarkers, and the papers & 4 gold stars are from my stash.  Thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Father's Day!!

Father's Day has come upon me fast this year, and although both my husbands and I father's have passed away, I thought it would be appropriate  to make him a Father's Day card  to let him know how much I appreciate the wonderful job he did raising our children!!  I colored this Art Impressions "Lazy Boy" set with  Promarkers.  I framed him in gray with Spellbinders Marvelous Squares Nestabilities die, and then layered him with green & brown cardstock from my stash.  The "To My Hero" sentiment comes from My Creative Times Teeny Tag Greetings die set.  I created my own greeting/sentiment inside the card, but for some reason, could not get a picture of it.  It says...."Who would like to live his life in the EASY CHAIR, but chooses to face his chores head on"!!  He spent the last two weeks power washing our deck, then applying a few coats of stain in the heat...a most thankless job!!!  Hope he likes his card!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Crystal

My son's girlfriend Crystal has a birthday on the nineteenth of this month.  I've never made a birthday card for her before, but Facebook informed me she shares the month of  June with my Son-in-law's Jason & Bryan for birthdays.  She has a thing for owls, so I made this shaped card using the Create a Critter Cricut cartridge on my Cricut Expression. I thought this owl was a  really cute image, and easy enough to make into a shaped card by welding two of them together by the ears using the Cricut Craft Room. I cut a third image out of white to use inside for the sentiment. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from the Stampin Up Happiest Birthday Wishes set. I forgot to take a picture of it before I wrote a personal message, thus the funky looking piece of white paper I placed over it!!  All the papers are from my stash. I decided to add a little bow to him, and just lucked out in having ribbon on hand from Michael's Arts & Crafts that had most of the same colors in it!!  I think it turned out really cute, and I think she'll get a kick out of it  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Jason!

My son-in-law Jason's birthday is coming up this week and I wanted to make him a birthday card.  I try to make all of my family's birthday/special occasion cards.  Masculine cards are always a challenge it seems!!  So I was looking through my birthday themed digital stamps as well as my physical birthday stamps for inspiration and came across this Pure Innocence "Super Boy" cling stamp.    The sentiment is from the same set.  So I colored him up with my promarkers....the papers are all from my stash, and I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the star & number 33.  The sentiment is punched out with Paper Studio punches.  Although it was a childish image...I couldn't help think that Jason is definitely a super duper boy/man!  He & my daughter Emily are raising six of our grandchildren. Emily is a SAH mom, and Jason works very hard to support them all!  So I decided to make his birthday card a SuperHero card!    Hope he likes it....thanks for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday Bryan!!

My son-in-law Bryan's birthday is this coming Tuesday (if I have it right!). I wanted to make him a masculine birthday card, and I like coloring images, but just couldn't find a male image I liked.  But with Memorial Day just passed, and the fact that he was in the Navy (or was it Marines?)...he is gonna hate me if he sees this!..and he really truly loves his country & is very patriotic...I thought I would use this candle stamp I got from Stamp Your Art Out and color it in red, white & blue.  Love you Bryan!!!  I printed the "Happy Birthday Bryan" sentiment on my computer, and framed it with Spellbinders Fancy Tags Two Shapeabilities die cut.  I stamped & wrote a special sentiment inside!!   Hope he likes it!!

Russell's 5th Birthday

I am a teeny bit surprised that it's been so long since I have posted anything!!  I have made many cards since my last posting, just haven't gotten around to sharing any of them!!  Sometimes life just gets ahead of you!!!  Anyway... my grandson Russell turns 5 years old tomorrow and we had a birthday party for him tonight since their family is leaving on a camping trip in the morning.  He is a lovely, bright, over rambunctious 5 year old that gets into a lot of trouble with all his energy!!!  Here is a picture of him in his birthday shirt!!   I have to say though that tonight....I was really impressed with his patience.  He had both sets of grandparents over, plus other various family & friends. He was very excited that it was his birthday, but patiently waited till we all ate dinner, had cake & ice cream, before he could open his presents!  He is SO into dinosaurs and this is the birthday card I made for him. Love you so much Russell!!  You mean the world to me and your Papaw!

Sweet Chick

There is a challenge over at Delightful Inspiration from the Heart about to end tomorrow night!!  You have a whole month to create something with their free image, and of course it takes me the entire month to come up with a creation!!!  Anyway...here is what I came up with!  I used their image "Flower Pot Chick", colored it with a combination of Spectrum Noir & Promarkers, The image was punched out with Marvy punches, the    DT background paper was from DCWV Blossom & Butterflies Stack, the  Sweet Chick sentiment is from a My Creative Time stamp set, framed with the Spellbinder's Decorative Label's One die cut.  What a wonderful mix of brand name items!!  The white ribbon is from Michaels and the yellow buttons are inherited from my late father's dry cleaning stash!!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Hope

My son-in-laws mother has breast cancer.  She is taking chemotherapy treatments at this time, and then the doctors will decide if a lumpectomy is in order, or total breast removal.  While undergoing these treatments, because her immunization is compromised, she has basically needed to stay away from anyone who might be sick, including the six grandchildren we share.  She has had to miss one of their baptisms, birthday parties, and probably our oldest grandchild's upcoming first communion!  They love her very much, and I'm sure it is total torture for her not to take part in these milestones.  Just recently her cell count was good enough to let her keep them overnight.  I'm sure they were all thrilled!!

Anyway...I wanted to send her a card, and had some stamps in mind that I could use, just didn't know where to start. Then I came across a video on how to make a pocket card that Joy from Obsessed with Scrapbooking made and decided it was perfect, and very easy to make...just a few folds!  Joy has lots of great how-to videos on her website, and I go to them whenever I need help with my Cricut Expression machine.  You can find this pocket card video on her blog under the video tab.  All the papers used on the pocket and tags were from the Martha Stewart Playful Pink pad.  The border on the front of the pocket is a Martha Stewart punch.  I cut all the tags on the Cricut using the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.  All the inspirational sayings and Hope ribbon are from Our Daily Bread Design sets called "Hope" & "Bookmark Verses", with the exception of the birdhouse tag.  I just printed that one myself on my computer.  The ribbons & pearl are from my stash.  She knows her faith will get her through this awful time, and I just thought she might like to use the tags as little bookmarks!  Hope she likes it!!  Sorry for such a long post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Last But Not Least

I have just now finished my sister Mary's Easter card!  I wanted to make an Easter card for everyone in my immediate family and am always shocked how long this takes me!!  I start early with great expectations, and then find myself scurrying around at the last minute to get them out!! My sister Mary is a truly loving individual that takes pleasure in making holidays a happy time for everyone!!  Although this was the last card I made, and it is quite loud in it's colors, I hope she will smile when she sees it!!!  Love you Mary..Happy Easter!!  This is a Bugaboo Stamp Image called "Scene It - Easter", Colored it with Spectrum Noir Markers.  Image is placed on Spellbinder's Classic Rectangles Large, then Classic Scalloped Rectangles Large, then under that is a Sizzix die cut that I cannot remember the name for, but reminded me of a springlike Sunburst Image!  I will update this post when I find out exactly what the name is...It's the only Sizzix die cut I currently have!!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Crazy Stella

This is another Easter card I made for a family member...won't say who because some of my family look at my website and I don't want to spoil their fun!  Bugaboo Digi Stamps make some great images...some are kooky, some are cutesy, and some are just too funny and truthful....like this image "Stella Calendar Months - Easter".  Apparently I've been known to make some blunt "speak before you think---first thing that came to my mind" comments that might seem brazen to some!  People I don't really know would be taken aback, but most people that know me will just laugh at the honesty/bluntness of the comment.  It's not that it's funny, but so truthful that they are amused and sometimes jealous (I think) that they didn't say it themselves!  ANYWAY...without further adieu...my card.  The striped paper is from my stash, I colored Stella with Spectrum Noir markers, both the die cuts she is framed on are Spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles, and the sentiment came with Stella and is framed with Spellbinder's Classic Scalloped Ovals Small.  It's a terrible photo, but best I could do at the time!  Hope you like it!

Another Easter Card

I finally decided to think outside the box and make a card that is mostly white on white.  This Easter card is for my daughter Emily's family.  I had a couple of problems with this card.  The gold die cut that frames the cross is Spellbinder's Floral Ovals.  I cut one with gold foil paper, but got damaged when I was assembling the card.  When I cut the second one, even though I ran it through the Spellbinder twice, once without a shim and once with a shim, the very small detailed pieces did not pop out.  Since it was my very last piece of gold foil paper, I didn't want to ruin it trying to poke these small pieces out, so I just left them in!  I still think it looks really pretty! The image is "Easter Lily" by Stitchy Bear Stamps.  I used pencils & promarkers to color it.  I ran a glitter pen over the cross & rays, it really doesn't show up in the picture, but it sparkles in person.
The second die cut behind the cross is Cheery Lynn's Sophie's Heart.  Behind that I used another layer embossed with a Spellbinder's M-Bossabilities EL-009 and added three pearls on each corner.  Then it all went on top of the white card base.  I used pop dots between each layer.  Thanks for stopping by to take a look!

Happy Easter Mom

My mother loves the color purple/lavender and she loves butterflies!  She has butterfly jewelry, butterfly home decor items, and probably some clothing with a butterfly stitched on it!  I used the From the Heart Digital Art Stamp called Spring Baskets to make her Easter card.  I knew immediately that the big bow around the basket would be purple, along with other elements of the card!  I used Copic & Spectrum Noir markers to color the image, and the papers are all from my stash.  Although you probably can't tell much by the picture, I embossed the white card stock with Cuttlebug's Decorative Tile set. The purple die cut on which the image sits is Spellbinder's Fleur de Lis Squares, the sentiment is from My Creative Time's Teeny Tiny Tags set. The butterflies on the corners were made using a Martha Stewart punch, and I used a glitter pen on their wings after I colored them.  Of course my camera took a really crummy picture of this card....it is much prettier in person!  Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!
